Engraving 8mm clear acrylic, any advice?

edited May 2015 in Tips & Tricks
I have a sheet of 8mm clear acrylic, and I would like to etch onto it. Does anyone have any advice, tips, or tricks?

I can imagine there is an issue with the light travelling unimpeded through the material, would it engrave the far side of the material? In which case should I invert the image? Also, do any of you have any experience with masking with certain colours to help this?

Any advice would be appreciated!!!

  • Maybe put a coating of black paint on the side which you want to etch?
It should be a paint that can be removed somehow.

But I don't have any experience in this.
