Where do I start? (Mac User) - No idea what I am doing

I bought the A3 and assembled it some time ago and now I am finally getting around to it. I don't want to sound like a complete fool but I have NO IDEA where to go or what to do after assembly.

I am using a 2011 Macbook Pro with 16 gb of Ram and Yosemite. (Should I buy a windows box?) And my end goal is to engrave or etch names into 1/8-1/4" pieces of round wood.

Any helps or links on what I should read to start from zero would be appreciated.

Super lost

  • Hi Ryan,

The User Manual walks you through the basic process to get going.

Here are the steps you need to do:

    1: Assemble the Emblaser
2: Focus your laser (see manual)
3: Download and install the streaming software (UGS) and Cut2D-Laser.
4: Connect the Emblaser to your computer and get it talking with UGS.

At this point you are ready to start using your Emblaser.

You can use the program called Cut2D-Laser to either import or create new designs in. They can be vector pdf, ai, dxf formats etc.

Once happy with your design, you export a 'cutting file' and send it to the Emblaser via UGS.

Here is a basic tutorial for you to see:

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you need here. You are not the only person in this situation and hopefully your questions and our answers will help others too.
