    We edited the photo in this program to prepare it for 3D engraving and we used the Vintage Photo menu.

    In PicEdit Lite we adjusted gamma & sharpening slightly, resized it for the .006" Pixel Resolution.

    In PicLaser Lite we used a min 20 and max 255 power setting, then set it to engrave a 45 degree angle.

    In PicFRC we used a 90IPM feedrate and 84% Feed Rate Change. White areas engraved at 90IPM with S20 power and in Black areas, it slowed to 14.4IPM at full S255 power.

    With this image editing process and PicLaser Lite/PicFRC settings, we were able to get both shading & cutting depths based on the shades in the image.

  • This one was done using PicEdit Lite to adjust size and edit the image. It was then loaded into PicLaser Lite to generate the gcode. The feedrate was set at 100IPM, .006" Pixel Resolution, max 255, min 10 and engraved at a 45 degree angle.

    The Gcode was then ran through PicFRC to add a variable feedrate for the shading enhancements. It was set a 25%.

    We have been using Poplar for our engravings, but we purchased some 12"X12"X.125" Birch Plywood to try. Photos engrave very good on it.

    We are using an small Acer Aspire ONE laptop with an intel Atom 1.60Ghz CPU N120 with 1Gb of ram to edit the image, generate the gcode, add FRC and stream the 1,860,390 lines of gcode in the file to our EmBlaser.

    After it was finished, we used the new Manual Move menu in PicSender to cut the engraving out of the Plywood .25" around the outside of the engraving.

  • Engraved MM with the same settings, then cut it out precisely using PicSender to fit snug in the wood frame behind the glass in this clock so no clips or glue was needed to hold it in place.
